In light of this recent Summer heatwave, I have had many Pinup pretties asking me how to best Summer proof their makeup and keep it lasting all day.
These are my professional and personal makeup tips-and-tricks, and are great hints for event makeup or DIY Summer brides.
Starting with skincare, it is best to use a moisturiser with SPF which will nourish the skin and offer protection from our harsh Summer sun. I use an oil-free facial moisturiser which hydrates without making the skin oily. As a base, I recommend skipping heavy foundation and opting for a tinted moisturiser which creates a light and dewy, breathable coverage. A rosy pink blush applied on the apples of your cheeks will give you that pretty pinup glow.
If you are going for a full face of makeup including eyeshadow, use an eye primer as a base on your eyelids, which will keep your eyeshadow from fading and transferring. Create your Cat's eye eyeliner using a colorstay gel/liquid liner with a heavy pigment which will not fade and stay on all day (also great for faux beauty-spots!)
Curl your upper eyelashes using an eyelash curler and use a waterproof mascara which will both hold the curl, and survive the day without smudging. A coat of clear brow gel, will define brows without looking heavy.
For your lips I recommend using a matte lipstick or lip stain as the pigment will last longer without fading.
Follow my summer makeup guide and your makeup touch-ups throughout the day will be minimal, aside from a light dusting of face powder to settle a glowing T-zone, or use facial oil-blotting papers.

Agreed, vintage-inspired glamour takes a little more time and effort in your day but once it's your signature style you can pull your look together in under 20-minutes.
What beauty shortcuts have you developed over time, whilst still maintaining Pinup perfection?

My glamorous friends and followers.. I just had a fabulous meeting with a gorgeous like-minded Vintage Hair and Makeup Artist, and we are planning our next collaborative Vintage Inspired Hair and Makeup Workshop!
Ladies, what era's and makeup styles interest you most and which vintage/modern pinups do you most admire? I most adore the classic Pinup style of the 1950's. Red lips, rosy-hued cheeks, winged liner and flirty, false lashes. My personal style icon is Modern Pinup Dita Von Teese, bombshell glamour with savvy, business mind. ♥
